Speaker Profiles and Presentation Abstracts

Centralized management of RouterOS APs with MikroTik CAPsMAN

- Description:
+ Overview CAPsMAN features.
+ Deployment CAPsMAN in corporate network to centralize wireless network management, manage configuration of APs, and client authentication. Associate SSIDs with VLANs to unify corporate network.

IDS implementation with Mikrotik

IDS (Intrusion Detection System )monitors network traffic and monitors for suspicious activity and alerts the system or network administrator. The IDS may also respond to anomalous or malicious traffic by taking action such as blocking the user or source IP address from accessing the network. There are IDS that detect based on looking for specific signatures of known threats- similar to the way antivirus software typically detects and protects against malware- and there are IDS that detect based on comparing traffic patterns against a baseline and looking for anomalies. In MUM will be demonstrated outside attack that led mikrotik router. IDS will use Mikrotik so that attacks can be prevented and avoided.

The Dude - network management and monitoring software

The Dude is free network monitoring and management application made by MikroTik which can dramatically improve the way you manage your network environment. It will automatically scan all devices within specified subnets, draw and layout a map of your networks, monitor services of your devices and alert you in case if some service has problems.
In this presentation we will walkthrough the basic tutorial of using the Dude software, introducing with most important features and see some configuration examples.

BGP Introduction, iBGP vs eBGP, BGP configuration

BGP Introduction, iBGP vs eBGP, BGP configuration, Issues When Redundancy Exists Between eBGP Neighbor, Configuring eBGP Peers to Use a Bridge Interface.

When redundant Layer 3 paths exist between two eBGP neighbors, the use of interface IP addresses as the source of the TCP connection can result in an outage when only one of the two links fails. BGP peer fail when the underlying TCP connection fails.

If the interface whose IP address is used by BGP were to fail, then the TCP socket would fail, closing the TCP connection. As a result, the BGP neighborship can only be up when the associated interfaces also happens to be up.

Solutions: use bridge interfaces(loopback) as the TCP connection endpoints.

Basic guidelines on RouterOS configuration and debugging

Presentation is directed for people who are familiar with RouterOS but do not have much experience on adjusting configuration to achieve better performance and security.

It tells about basic and most simple debugging steps which should be executed when something is not working as suspected with router and/or RouterOS.

Load Balancing Configuration

Load balancing aims to optimize resource use, maximize throughput, minimize response time, and avoid overload of any single resource. Using multiple components with load balancing instead of a single component may increase reliability and availability through redundancy

Website Blocking Policy With MikroTik RouterOS
