Is your Network really secure? The weakness of the widely used methods to secure the access to Wired and Wireless Networks. Attacks against PPPoE and Hotspot.
Wardner Maia, MD Brasil (Brazil)
Abstract
There is a common misconception among Internet Service Providers that PPPoE and Hotspot can provide security in a Wired or Wireless Networks. ISP's do not like to hear that their Networks are insecure only with this methods, but in fact in most cases they really are. All the time the Providers and their customers are exposed do DoS and man-in-the-middle attacks. The future of those operators is strongly tied to the security measures they will implement on their networks. The main purpose of this presentation is to show the weakness of the methods commonly used and the way to ensure real security.

Progress in Wireless Mesh Networks with Mikrotik RouterOS How to deploy Mesh Network with high performance, reliability, and security using WDS/MME/HWMP+
Wardner Maia, MD Brasil (Brazil)
Abstract
Wireless Mesh Networks have been widely used for providing citywide
broadband service. There are several Companies in the market offering
their solutions, in most case proprietary, to attend the growing
demand. Mikrotik RouterOS offers a lot of options for Wireless Mesh
Networks deployments that can be configured in a proprietary mode for a
robust performance or according to standards, allowing the use Mikrotik
together of commodity equipment. The main goal of the presentation is
to give an overview of the Mesh Networks solutions in the market, the
basic guidelines to implement Mesh with Mikrotik RouterOS and to report
experiences of practical implementations.
