Speaker Profiles and Presentation Abstracts

Training by training partners

Official MikroTik training partners will be offering MTCNA, MTCRE, MTCWE, MTCTCE and MTCINE training classes in the week before the MUM conference. MikroTik will also be offering a 'Train the Trainer' class for already certified specialists who wish to become official trainers. This is your chance to get official certification in any of MikroTik official certification categories. Seperate registration is required. See more in our training page: http://www.mikrotik.com/training/next

Opening and introduction, new products/ MikroTik Academy

The demand for network engineers with a good knowledge in MikroTik RouterOS is constantly increasing. Therefore MikroTik is offering higher educational institutions the possibility to organize Networking classes using RouterOS as a learning tool. Students may obtain an internationally recognized certificate (MTCNA) that confirms their academic credentials. What kind of institutions can apply? What are the requirements, benefits, costs? How to apply? These and also other questions will be answered during the presentation.

IPv6 -- No Longer Optional

This session will talk about the need to deploy IPv6, IPv4 runout, and finally provide an introduction to how to go about deploying IPv6 with practical examples. Everything from basic router configuration to DNS, E-Mail, and HTTP. Bio: Owen DeLong is an IPv6 Evangelist at Hurricane Electric and a member of the ARIN Advisory Council. Owen brings more than 25 years of industry experience. He is an active member of the systems administration, operations, and IP Policy communities. In the past, Owen has worked at Tellme Networks (Senior Network Engineer), Exodus Communications (Senior Backbone Engineer) where he was part of the team that took Exodus from a pre-IPO start up with 2 data centers to a major global provider of hosting services, Netcom Online (Network Engineer) where he worked on a team that moved the internet from an expensive R&E tool to a widely available public access system accessible to anyone with a computer, Sun Microsystems (Senior Systems Administrator), and more. He can be reached as owend at he dot net.

Load Balancing Using RouterOS and PCC

Network users are almost universally demanding higher and higher bandwidth rates while commodity internet providers struggle to keep pace with the demand. In many areas, low capacity DSL circuits are the only connectivity available. Load sharing or load balancing is a method of distributing user traffic across multiple low capacity circuits to provide reasonable levels of connectivity. When combined with masquerade, it allows service providers to utilize multiple low cost circuits to feed network services to their users in a more cost effective manner. Providers can spend many thousands of dollars on dedicated load balancers or use the built in functions of ROuterOS to accomplish the same task for much less. This presentation not only demonstrates the configuration of load balancing but teaches the why's and how's of the functions that provide that service.

Cookie Cutter Wisp deployment using MT

Using Mikrotik in a WISP environment with focus on rapidly deploying mikrotik routers.

Multihomed BGP Design And Configuration

This will discuss common design and configurations for connecting to more than one upstream ISP via BGP.

Network Security

Discussion of methods you can use to secure your network. Leave the network secure while still providing access to needed management functions from outside your network.

Bandwidth-based load-balancing with failover - the easy way

The aim of this presentation is to introduce an easy bandwidth-based load-balancing setup with failover using Mangle, Routing Tables and a little bit of scripting. This setup will be presented on an actual customer-requested topology, which will show the flexibility and scalability of this solution.
