RouterOS is being widely used in ISP and enterprise networks to setup access concentrators. During this presentation we will discuss means and strategies on how to build such concentrators scalable and enhance their availability.
VLAN processing in New bridge implementation
In this presentation the concept of fastpath, fasttrack, and RAW will be described. The pros and cons of each of these features, and when to use them.
The new features of the MikroTik wireless package: Nv2 AP synchronization feature, nv2-downlink-ratio and more to come. By Lorenzo Busatti, a WISP and a MikroTik Trainer from Italy.
Implementing and running a MPLS/VPLS network is easy. As long as it is running well. The presentation will focus on the use cases and the pitfalls, that could be diffucult to foresee before having your VPLS network running.
Wireless Wire provides Gigabit wire speed over wireless network. New Wireless Wire product line provides low cost, high speed wireless links for shorter distances. In this presentation we will see how 60GHz devices could be used in different usage scenarios, we will look into link performance testing and troubleshoot common configuration and placement mistakes. We will also see how MikroTik improves performance and adds new features between different RouterOS versions.

The growth of IPv6 deployment on the last mile over the last three years has been exponential and the transition to IPv6 is a road with no return. IPv6 is already a reality for many countries like Germany for instance, where there are more than 40% of final customers with IPv6. However, as long as IPv4 content still exists on the Internet, ISPs' access networks must survive in a world where there are more clients than the available IPv4 space. To address this situation, many of them are doing NAT, or rather, CGNAT - Carrier Grade NAT. In its turn, CGNAT imposes technical and regulatory burdens. As the network grows, more and more powerful equipment are needed and the necessity to unambiguously identify a client behind a single IP address is an important issue. On the other hand, while fighting with IPv4 scarcity, ISPs have to deploy the “new” protocol characterized by the abundance of addresses where a correct planning is the key for a successful and perennial implementation. This presentation will be divided in 2 parts: in the first one, we will propose a method for implementing CGNAT following the appropriate RFCs, BCOPs and in order to attend regulatory requirements. The implementation will use RouterOS features in a way to reduce to a small amount of rules regardless of the number of "Natted" customers, saving router resources. On the second part we will see the best practices to plan a real IPv6 network and how to deploy it from the border routers to last mile in a real ISP case scenario, providing fixed and/or dynamyc prefixes to final customers, circumventing some RouterOS characteristics related to RADIUS prefix delegation. About the presenter: Wardner Maia is Electronic Engineer, CTO of MDBrasil (Brazil) - a Brazilian ISP company, Mikrotik Trainer (#021) since 2007 and chairman of LACNIC - the regional registry for Latin America and Caribbean.
Introduction to L2 filtering on RouterOS, where filters can be and what is possible to do with. Some sample implementation. What has changed on L2 filtering in the last year.
This presentation will look at the design and performance aspects of using a MIkroTik CHR as a BGP edge router to handle full table routing.
When using CAPsMAN in a high density or crowded RF environment this presentation will provide tips to optimise the settings to improve performance and explain why it’s important to do so.
NetCologne operates a huge WiFi network in the stadium (1. FC Köln), the fair trade (Koelnmesse) and the City of Cologne with more more than 22 million users in 2017. The main part of the backbone, access and captive portal ist based on MikroTik hard- and software. This case study/sucess story will show the challanges and how we solved them. (Used MikroTik equipment: CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+, CCR1016-12S-1S+, CCR1036-12G-4S, CCR1036-8G-2S+, CCR1072-1G-8S+, CRS212-1G-10S-1S+IN, hAP ac and wAP)
The presentation will help you to understand and combine RouterOS “FastPath” and “SlowPath” features in order to allow MikroTik equipment do more. Encourage not only to update RouterOS version, but also update existing configurations with the latest features. This presentation will focus on the most popular performance issues related to improper use of RouterOS features.
Enterprise wireless (WPA2+EAP) and dynamic VLAN's with CAPsMAN and Windows NPS (Network access and Protection Service - MS radius server)
In this presentation we will analyze different configurations of the bridge filter to improve the performance of the network and bastionize the network.
This presentation will talk about IPsec in general - the basics, how IPsec works, different IPsec modes, Phase 1, Phase 2, etc. After the basics, the presentation will focus on using IPsec XAuth mode-config for road-warrior VPN usage. We will cover split-routing, split-DNS, user auth (RADIUS vs. Local) and other topics.
