Applying Threat Intelligence and Cyber Security using MikroTik RouterOS

Using the Mikrotik RouterOS to accomplish world class cybersecurity protections using a variety of rules, address lists, and continuous updates along with a platform that integrates to multiple open & closed sources of threat intelligence that pushes out automated updates to all devices.

MikroTiks in a Disaster

IT & Telecommunications Emergency Response Units IT&T ERU) for the International
Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) have been using MikroTik's for
emergency networks in disasters for about 5 years. New Zealand Red Cross is one of 5 of
these ERUs around the world, and this presentation will give some background to the IT &
Telecom ERU, what it is, what it does, and how we have been using MikroTik's in disasters
like the Philippines Typhoon Hyan, Nepal Earthquake and hurricanes in Dominca.

Increasing ARPU and reducing churn with a programmable network

The presentation will show in details how Valley Internet in Rural California uses MikroTik at each customer site to improve the user experience throughout the life cycle of the subscriber.

From installation to usage, through troubleshooting and upgrades, we will focus on the many benefits of having at least one MikroTik per site. Some of the functions we will highlight include layer 2 separation, plug & play DHCP and intelligent tech support using smart.network, all built and running on the RouterOS platform.

Mikrotik in Network Operations in NZ - Learnings and Tricks

Presenting a range of network operations tricks and learnings from the trenches when using public and private L2 networks in NZ. Tricks including the triple NAT to access resistive end user devices, handling provisioning errors by LFC's, and ensuring default configuration delivered to customers address the most common customer issues. The talk will also present compatibility testing with phones and the newest Mikrotik PoE Switches.

Application Of MikroTik Products in GeoNet Monitoring Network

How MikroTik radios and routers are utilised to provide connectivity and transfer data from New Zealand's natural hazard monitoring network.

Building a regional service provider network using SDN (for fun)

Building a regional service provider network (NZ North Island) using SDN, Chorus Exchanges, Network Virtualization (CHR & OpenvSwitch).
